Automatic fall detection uses motion sensors and algorithms in a wearable to recognize the pattern of a fall. If a fall is detected and you don't cancel the alert, the device contacts the monitoring center on its own — so help is called even if you can't press a button. It's a safety net, not a guarantee, which is why a manual help button still matters.
